Two Families, One Big Celebration | A Chicago Summer Wedding

Familia is the word that instantly comes to mind when describing Tala and Kevin’s wedding last weekend.

Tala and Kevin met in med school and the rest was history. Destiny made sure these two met each other at the aisle years later.

In the morning, Tala was received by a zeffeh and her family before making her way to the church. Her home was overflowing with dancing, laughing, chanting and hugs.

Before we knew it, we were all cheering Tala on as she got into the sprinter van and made her way to Madonna Della Strada Chapel for the ceremony. As Tala walked down the aisle, the room echoed with joy as Tala and Kevin got married.

As the guests made their way to the reception at Chicago Winery, the celebration continued. Loud cheering, music, heartfelt speeches and energetic dancing from the start to the very end in celebration of the fate that brought Tala and Kevin together and in turn, making their families even bigger. One thing that permeated with us was the infusion of both cultures and how Tala and Kevin both immersed themselves in learning about each other. Tala speaks fluent Spanish and Kevin knew the moves to all the Arabic dances.

When two familias come together the magic is even greater. A couple is always the focal point of a wedding, but the families and friends that come together to celebrate their love are the people that make the celebration unforgettable.
